What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Is BOTOX® Cosmetic Right for Me?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is safe for most healthy adults who want to smooth wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions and their associated muscle contractions in the upper face. You may be a good candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic if you want to treat moderate to severe:

• Forehead lines – Horizontal lines across the forehead often form as a result of raising your eyebrows.
• Crow’s feet – Smiling and squinting causes muscle contractions around your eyes. Lines at the outer edge of your eye can form in the shape of a crow’s foot.
• Frown lines – When you concentrate or frown, you furrow your brow. This repeated muscle movement can result in persistent vertical lines between the eyebrows that give you the appearance of frowning even when you’re not.

BOTOX® Cosmetic provides temporary improvements. You will need periodic treatments to maintain your results. If you want longer-lasting results or have considerable sagging skin, facial plastic surgery may be a better option for you.

What to Expect from a BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment

A BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment takes about 10-20 minutes. Depending on the treatment site, two to five injections may be needed for optimal effect. We choose injection sites strategically to target only the muscles causing the undesired contractions. This approach allows for natural-looking results.

You can leave the office and resume normal activities immediately. Results may be noticeable as soon as 24-48 hours after treatment, with improvements continuing in the following weeks.  Touch ups are recommended every three to six months as needed to maintain a youthful look.
