CoolSculpting in Orange County, CA
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive, body-contouring technology that targets stubborn pockets of unwanted fat without the need for surgery. CoolSculpting is the only FDA-cleared fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to permanently address areas of built-up fatty tissue that have become resistant to diet and exercise. This process, medically known as cryolipolysis, destroys those fat cells by freezing them without harming the surrounding skin or tissue. Over the next few months, those frozen fat cells are safely broken down and naturally eliminated through the body’s normal metabolic process.
What Areas of the Body Can CoolSculpting Target?
CoolSculpting is an effective alternative to liposuction and can address troublesome pockets of undesirable fat in the:
- Back
- Abdomen
- Love handles
- Muffin top
- Inner and outer thighs
- Upper arms
- Double chin
CoolSculpting is perfect for those individuals who are already close to their ideal weight but just have some problem spots that are not responding to diet and exercise. This procedure is only recommended for clients who have a body mass index (BMI) of under 30 and is not an alternative to significant weight-loss procedures like gastric bypass surgery or traditional liposuction.
Starting the CoolSculpting Process
The first step to getting started with CoolSculpting treatments is to schedule a personal consultation with one of our highly trained physicians. During this time, your doctor will carefully evaluate your areas of concern while taking into account your personal body-contouring goals. You will then be presented with a fully customized CoolSculpting plan to address the specific pockets of stubborn fat that you want to eliminate, giving you the figure you want. Alternatively, more traditional procedures may be recommended. Visit one of our Orange County offices located in Orange, Costa Mesa, Tustin, Newport, and Yorba Linda, CA.
CoolSculpting Treatments at UCI Plastic Surgery
CoolSculpting sessions are performed at our Orange County office and typically last about one hour. After selecting the areas you’d like to pinpoint, your experienced nurse will apply a gel pad and the CoolSculpting device directly onto the targeted spots. Once activated, the tissue will be drawn into the applicator with gentle suction, and the cooling will begin. CoolSculpting treatments are generally a comfortable and well-tolerated procedure with most patients reporting only a slight pulling sensation and a cold feeling as the fat cells are frozen. When the freezing cycle has been completed, the device will be removed, and the technician will then massage the treated area to further help in the breaking down of the fat cells.
What to Expect After Treatment
Since this is a non-invasive procedure that doesn’t require any anesthesia, there’s little to no downtime following treatments with CoolSculpting. Most patients are able to return to work or their normal activities right away. There will be some slight redness from the applicator once it is removed, and some patients may also experience bruising and mild numbness following treatment, but those symptoms usually fade within a week.
When Will I See Results?
Results with CoolSculpting come gradually over time. Although some patients are able to notice positive changes in as little as two to three weeks, the true outcome won’t be seen until about three months after treatment. Fat can be permanently reduced by up to 25 percent in one session, but the best results come after a series of at least three CoolSculpting procedures, depending on your body-shaping goals.
